Overlooking the majestic Hudson River in the heart of the Hudson Valley lies the historic city of Newburgh, NY. Incorporated as a city in 1865, Newburgh is rich in history and architecture, with properties, parks and homes designed by Downing, Olmsted, Vaux and many of the other notable American architects of the time. Just over an hour’s drive or train ride from New York City, Newburgh is also home to George Washington’s Headquarters and offers spectacular views of Mt. Beacon, all manner of authentic international food, and a diverse community of residents, internationally recognized artists, and innovative small businesses and makers.
The Newburgh Illuminated Festival aims to highlight all the things that make Newburgh the charming, culturally diverse city that it is. This year we celebrated our 150th birthday with a veritable world of food from local purveyors, and featuring live music all day on multiple stages. There was something for all ages! Newburgh and Hudson Valley vendors were on hand selling locally-sourced and handmade goods. Attendees saw pop-up art shows, child and family-friendly events, and a trolley tour of historical Newburgh. Thanks for coming! We will see you in 2016!
